Why Should I consume
WPC?
Individuals will repair and replenish their body’s energy
reserves upon consuming about 30-40 grams of Whey Protein Concentrate
before or after workouts and strenuous activities. Whey Protein
Concentrate not just provides energy but also helps control food
intake restricting the consumption of excess fat or carbohydrate.
The body requires more energy to digest protein as a result more
calories are burnt thus fastening the metabolism rate. Furthermore,
Whey Protein Concentrate strengthens the immune system and potentially
prohibits a wide range of viruses and illnesses. Taking Proflex’s
WPC also helps the body maintain its optimum energy without having
to consume too much fat or carbohydrates.
What Ingredients are Proflex’s Whey
Protein concentrate made up from?
• Vanilla – Uses the highest quality, whey powder mixed
with rich vanilla flavoring and is yet further enhanced with L-Carnitine
to make a great tasting nourishment. L-Carnitine is very vital for
fat metabolism, as the body is dependant on it for the fat burning
process via oxidation (conversion of fatty acids to energy). Sucralose
and D-et are added to sweeten the whey as they are a low calorie making them a healthy alternative
to sucralose or sugar.
• Chocolate – Easily digested, finest quality whey protein
powder further enhanced with a rich and creamy chocolate flavoring.
Sucralose and D-et are combined with WPC to give the whey a sweet
taste and be a healthy substitute for sugar.
• Pure - Finest quality of unflavoured Whey Protein Concentrate
(WPC), which is easily absorbed, digested and consumed to promote
muscle growth
Is there a difference between WPC (Whey
Protein Concentrate) and WPI (Whey Protein Isolate)?
A processed whey protein product generally falls in one or two categories:
Whey Protein Concentrate (WPC) or Whey Protein Isolate (WPI). WPC
has been recognized for sometime now as having the highest biological
value (BV) of any food protein. This means, gram for gram of protein,
it has the greatest potential to repair and build tissue. WPI are
processed from WPC, allowing individual protein fractions to be
included or excluded from the product. This process usually reduces
the fat and lactose content by 1-2%.
Does that make WPI a better choice?
Not necessarily, as the only way to process WPI is by ion exchange.
In which, the WPC under goes electrolysis and washing with acids
and alkalis to separate the fractions. Unfortunately this process
removes most of the calcium and changes the molecular structure
of some of the fractions. Now consumers have to make a choice between
either WPC: gives a protein yield of about 80% but with a high BV
or WPI: gives a protein yield of about 90% but with a lower BV.
Food scientists and nutritionists have always supported the use
of WPC over WPI, as quality is always better than quantity.
What is the fuss about L-Carnitine?
L-Carnitine is the integral link in the fat burning process without
it none of us would be able to burn the amount of fat sufficient
to energy we need to serving. The higher the level of L-Carnitine,
the faster the speed of the fat burning process resulting in greater
release of energy. L-Carnitine is very vital for fat metabolism,
as the body is dependant on it to transport the fatty acids into
the mitochondria-here fatty acids are converted to energy via oxidation
(fat burning process). L-Carnitine is not a quick weight loss aid
but allows individuals to achieve maximum weight loss coupled with
sound diet program & exercise) possible and still remain healthy.
L-Carnitine deficiencies may cause symptoms such
as fatigue, chest pain, muscle pain, weakness, low blood pressure
and fat build up in liver & kidney leading to other serious
diseases. Dietary intake of L-Carnitine is marginal even for people
eating balanced diet because it is destroyed once most foods containing
L-Carnatine are cooked at high temperature. Therefore supplementing
the diet with L-Carnitine is not just important but necessary. This
fat burning amino-acid also helps rebuilding body tissue, stimulates
muscle growth, lowers cholesterol levels, promotes resistance to
stressful workout and benefits heart, liver and kidney function.
How much Protein does a person need daily?
Protein needs generally from person to person depending
upon age, weight, sex, activity level and overall health and wellbeing.
Athletes and body builders often need more protein than the recommended
dietary allowance (RDA).
I eat a lot of chicken, beef, fish, eggs, and soy. Why do
I still need whey protein?
Healthy diets should regularly include high quality, low fat sources
of protein, like whey protein. Calories do count and you want to
make sure that you are getting the most benefits from the calories
you consume. Compared to other proteins, on a gram-to-gram basis
whey protein concentrate delivers more essential amino acids to
the body without the fat or cholesterol. Nutrition experts recommend
a diet with a variety of protein foods but for optimal results one
must make sure that one of them is whey protein.
Is whey protein easy to digest?
Whey Protein Concentrate is the most easily digested and
soluble protein source that is available. It’s rapidly absorbed
by the body to replenish, repair and nourish the depleted protein
levels which are needed for muscles and other body tissues making
it a common ingredient in protein supplements.
Is whey protein a good choice for vegetarians?
Whey protein is an excellent choice for vegetarians who include
dairy products in their diet. It’s a very good substitute
for the essential proteins vegetarians aren’t obtaining from
consuming non-meat products.
What are the side effects of taking whey
protein?
There are no documented side effects provided a person
does not have an allergy to dairy proteins or does not need to restrict
dairy products for medical reasons. If you are allergic to dairy
proteins please consult with a physician prior to consuming any
type of whey protein.
Serving Suggestions:
Adding 2 heaped scoops of Proflex Whey Protein with 12 ounces/400
ml (3/4 filled glass) of cold milk, water, juice and other beverages.
It can also be mixed in the Proflex Shaker to make a healthy smoothie
(add fruit, honey, yoghurt, cold milk, water, etc). For better results,
we recommend you to consume proflex whey protein twice a day.
What is Creatine Monohydrate?
Creatine was used few years back for increasing energy productions
and more recently for muscle building. Creatine is arguably the
most popular supplement available when looking to increase strength
and performance. Creatine supplementation is claimed to increase
muscle power by playing a key role in the transfer of energy to
help the muscle contract. Creatine helps muscles work harder and
have more endurance before becoming fatigued. Creatine supplementation
allows subjects to complete their workouts at a higher intensity
and can be used prior to an event or contest for “instant”
energy. It has been proven to increase body mass (fat free), strength
and stamina in all age ranges for all different sports.
What is Creatine’s Role In Muscle Contraction?
To meet the demands of high-intesity exercise, such as weight lifting,
muscles derive their energy from a series of reactions involving
Adenosine Triphosphate(ATP), Phosphocreatine(PCr), Adenosine Diphosphate(ADP)
and creatine. ATP provides energy when it releases a phosphate molecule
and becomes ADP. ATP is regenerated when a PCr donates a phosphate
molecule that combines with ADP. Stored PCr can fuel the first 15-20
mins of weight lifting, but another fuel source must provide the
energy to sustain the activity. Creatine supplements increase the
storage of PCr, thus making more ATP available to fuel the working
muscles and enable them to be more resistant before becoming fatigued.
Serving Suggestions for Creatine:
Creatine supplements are generally sold in a capsule, chewable,
and powdered form; the most popular being the powder. Proflex creatine
chose to use the powder form, as it is faster absorbed from the
intestines into the bloodstreams and directly metabolised by our
body.
We recommend a daily dose of 1-2 teaspoons dissolved in 8 ounces
of cold water or flavoured beverage for the energy boost. One teaspoon
of powder contains about 5 grams of creatine monohydrate.
A high-dose loading phase of 20grams( 4 times x
5 grams) creatine per day for the first 5 days followed by a maintenance
phase of 2grams to 5grams(once daily) per day is suggested for serious
athletes-30mins before or immediately after the workout. This protocol
increases muscles stores by 20-50%. One key concern with creatine
is the purity but with the Proflex creatine you are guaranteed the
finest quality. Power Corporation proudly claims to use the highest
pharmaceutical creatine available in the supplementary market to
fulfill the needs of all health conscious individuals. Furthermore,
our creatine is purely vegetarian and halal certified. Let the Proflex
creatine help you unleash that extra power within you to perform
beyond your potential.
